The 14th annual Summer Solstice Fest returns to downtown Blacksburg today, June 18, from 1 p.m. to11 p.m. The festival will feature live music, food, arts, crafts, a 5K run, and performances.
Circus Stella, a traditional family circus which features performing rescued dogs and human feats like trapeze, aerial silk, rope-walking, and acrobatics, will perform three shows. The children’s area will feature a petting zoo, an obstacle course, and water games.
Blacksburg’s own steel drum orchestra, the PanJammers, will kick off the music on the Freedom First stage leading a fun-filled lineup that will include Root Down, Flight One, Ripe Jive, Annabelle’s Curse, and The Jared Stout Band.
The festival will also feature hula and silk fan performers, as well as performances by The Mystic Witches of Floyd and the Irish Dance Academy of Southwest Virginia.
The festival will be held on Main Street and Lee Street with family fun and entertainment for all, rain or shine.
Festival goers are urged to walk, bike, bus, or ride-share to the festival.
