The Virginia Tech Center for Economic and Community Engagement is partnering with VT’s Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce to sponsor a project called SHOW, a small business health and organization wellbeing workshop in early February.
The workshop is aimed at working with three or four small businesses (30 employees or less) for 1.5 to 2 hours to be conducted off the business site. The workshop training will be free, and business owners will not be able to participate though the Center for Economic and Community Engagement can provide separate training to owners through the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
Topics will include workplace communication, workplace conflict-resolution, and employee well-being. Small businesses interested in sending three or more of their employees to this free pilot training should respond by Jan. 31 by contacting Elli Travis at emtravis@vt.edu.
Results from this pilot workshop will inform a Southwest Virginia-wide training program, so small business participation is critical.
