Pursuant to the provisions of Section 15.2-2204 & 15.2-2285 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors hereby gives notice of a public hearing to be held on March 27, 2023 at 7:15 p.m. in the County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg, Virginia, in order to hear citizen comments regarding the Board of Supervisors’ intention to act on the following Ordinance:
A request by Fotheringay LLC (Agent: CF VA Solar 105 LLC) for a Special Use
Permit to construct a 5-megawatt ground mounted solar array on approximately 35 acres, consisting of a 2 acre portion of Tax Parcel 072-1 56, a 24 acre portion
of Tax Parcel 072-A 2, and a 9 acre portion of Tax Parcel 072-A 4. The use is
defined as “solar energy system, major” in the Zoning Ordinance, which is
permitted in the A-1 Agricultural Zoning District only by Special Use Permit. The properties are located along Roanoke Road (US Route 11), approximately 0.07
miles southwest of the intersection of Roanoke Road and Eastern Montgomery Lane (State Route 9257). The properties are further identified as Tax Map 072-1
56 (Parcel ID: 013681), 37.824 acres, Tax Map 072-A 2 (Parcel ID: 023523),
53.343 acres, and Tax Map 072-A 4 (Parcel ID: 013680), 188.1 acres, all zoned A-
1 Agricultural in the Shawsville Magisterial District. The property is located in an
area designated as Resource Stewardship in the 2025 Comprehensive Plan. Copies of the proposed plans, applications, ordinances or amendments may be examined at the Department of Planning and GIS Services, County Government Center, 755
