The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday that Virginia Tech football student-athletes DL Josh Fuga, TE Nick Gallo and WR Ali Jennings will join head coach Brent Pry at the 2023 ACC Football Kickoff in downtown Charlotte on Wednesday, July 26.
The ACC made changes this year by expanding the league’s media day coverage to three days, after removing divisions within the conference.
Fuga (6-2, 313) – The Woodbridge, Virginia native enters his fifth season in the maroon and orange. Fuga started five games in 2022 at defensive tackle and had 10 appearances during the season. During his career, Fuga has played in 35 games amassing 43 total tackles and a blocked field goal.
Gallo (6-4, 240) – The Richboro, Pennsylvania native enters his fifth season at Tech, where he’s started 22 games at tight end over the past two seasons. Gallo finished second on the team in receptions (30) and third in receiving yards (256) in 2022. During his tenure in Blacksburg, he appeared in 46 contests and averaged 8.5 yards per reception.
Jennings (6-2, 198) – An incoming transfer from Old Dominion, Jennings is slated to be one of the top offensive weapons after being named to Pro Football Focus’ top 10 returning receivers. The Richmond, Virginia native earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors in 2022 after leading ODU with 54 receptions for 959 yards and nine touchdowns. In his career, Jennings has played in 36 games totaling 142 receptions.
Virginia Tech is scheduled to open the season against Old Dominion on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. ET on ACC Network. This will be the second consecutive year that Tech football will begin the season against ODU after traveling to Norfolk, Virginia in 2022.
