Funds used are in honor of memory of Kiwanian Bob Wheeler
BLACKSBURG – A mud kitchen and climbing dome were recently added to the younger children’s playground at Price’s Fork Elementary School using funds donated to the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery County-Blacksburg Foundation in memory of Kiwanian Dr. Bob Wheeler who passed away in 2020.
Wheeler enjoyed reading to Pre-K children at the school, and his family wanted to make a contribution that would be used to support young children. The teachers and staff at Price’s Fork Elementary felt that children would enjoy having these additions to the playground.
In addition to these contributions, the Kiwanis Club makes a monthly donation from its service account to provide food and personal care items to the school’s food pantry for Pre-K children. This year’s Kiwanis fundraising (golf tournament, pancake breakfast and Brunswick Stew sale) has surpassed previous fundraising events and will allow the club to increase our contributions to our community.
Kiwanis would like to thank the following for sponsors at the golf tournament: Moog, Poly Scientific Employees Federal Credit Union, Green Valley Builders, McCoy Funeral Home, Marty Muscatello Smart Yards, Edward Jones Financial advisors Trevor Gray and Meghan Kuczmarski, In Motion, Electrical Supply, LL Brown Insurance, State Farm Chris Turman, Ameriprise Financial Mark Tapp, Clinton’s Transfer and Storage, Blacksburg True Value Hardware, Shear Artistry, Mike Eggleston/Coldwell Banker Townside, Budget Blinds, M & M Tire and Auto, Macado’s, East Main Rides, and numerous anonymous Kiwanians.
