MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Lewis-Gale Montgomery, located in Blacksburg, has announced they will temporarily stop providing obstetric services for women due to staff shortages.
According to an announcement posted on their Women’s Care page at www.hcavirginia.com, “LewisGale Hospital Montgomery has made the difficult decision to temporarily discontinue labor and delivery services, effective April 1, 2024. Recruiting full-time OB/GYNs has been challenging in recent years, and at this time, it is in the best interest of our patients to deliver their babies at our sister facility, LewisGale Medical Center. While we will no longer deliver babies at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, patients can receive gynecological care, as well as pre-and-postnatal care, through LewisGale Physicians Women’s Health Specialists, located in Blacksburg, Virginia. Patients will receive specific information regarding their care.”
This news follows the recent opening of the LewisGale Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Salem.
