CHRISTIANSBURG – The Montgomery County School Board elected its 2024 chair and vice
chair during the Jan. 9 school board meeting.
District A representative Linwood Hudson has been elected chair and District D representative Jamie Bond has been elected vice chair.
Bond has served on the Montgomery County School Board since 2005. She is a graduate of
Christiansburg High School and has most recently served as the school board’s liaison to the
Town of Christiansburg.
Hudson has served since 2022. In 2023 he was appointed by the school board to serve on the
Southwest Virginia Governor’s School Committee and the Montgomery County Educational
Foundation Committee.
The Jan. 9, 2024 meeting marked the first school board meeting with three new members:
Ed Gitre, Laura Purcell and Derek Roundtree. Bond and Hudson will serve in these positions for one year.
