Lorraine Constantine Durrill, 76, of Blacksburg, passed away Feb. 17, 2024.

Lorraine was born on May 26,1947 to Silvio and Katherine Constantine of Scarsdale, New York. She attended Radford University where she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Lorraine spent 16 years as a dedicated math and science teacher at Radford City and Montgomery County Public Schools. After leaving the public school system she became the director of the Teaching Resource Center at Radford University. She worked tirelessly to create a place where teachers could find various resources they needed to assist them in the classroom.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Dr. Preston Durrill. She is survived by three children: Steven Durrill (Gwen), Beth Graham (Jim) and Linda Durrill; and eight grandchildren: Katie, Preston, Ben, Mackenzie, Zoe, Ayla, Leo, and Penelope. Lorraine is also survived by her sister, Gail Foy, her brother, Gary Constantine (Cheryl), and her sister-in-law, BJ Durrill.

Lorraine had a passion for sewing, quilting, and knitting. Her talents have blessed her family with many quilts, blankets, and other projects that will always serve as a fond remembrance of a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her husband, glass of wine in hand, on the patio overlooking their beautiful yard full of flowers and plants that he nurtured.

Lorraine’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to caregiver Mary Ruben for the love and devotion she provided Lorraine over the past couple of years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations you wish to make are made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice. A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family.
