Town and Country Veterinary Clinic on North Franklin Street in Christiansburg has been business for 25 years, and this week, they announced plans for a new free-standing clinic on an adjacent lot that will double the original facility’s size.

Dr. Kelly Burdette started the clinic after graduating from the Virginia Tech Vet School, and is excited about the expansion.

“Town & Country Veterinary Clinic and Emergency Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and we are excited to be expanding and starting a new hospital to be completed in 2018,” she said.

The new hospital will have state of the art equipment for diagnostics, surgical suites including a dental wing, special procedure suites including ultrasounds and laser therapy, a large triage area for emergencies/trauma & critical care, expanded boarding area including luxury suites and a separate exercise play yard.

Additionally, there will be a separate cat entrance with kitten adoption center for a fear free environment, with nine plus exam and comfort rooms, pet spas and grooming suites covering over 14,000 square feet.

Burdette said the 6,500 square feet clinic has experienced growth yearly since its opening, thus necessitating the move to a 1.8 acre site to the right of the current building.

“Our exam rooms will double from five to 10, and we will have a luxury boarding area where we hope to have cameras so pet owners can check in on their dogs. The individual cat waiting area will also allow the animals to be separated when coming into the clinic. We will also be more focused on emergency and intensive care,” she said.

Town and Country is the only small animal hospital in the New River and Roanoke Valleys that offers the convenience of 24-hour pet care and emergency services.

The new facility will also be equipped with pet spas and grooming suites. “We’re committed to providing exceptional care to the community, compassionate service to clients, and a comfortable, calming atmosphere to every animal and human that comes through our doors,” Burdette said.

The clinic currently has nine veterinarians on staff and as many as 60 support staff members. Burdette hopes to break ground on the new clinic sometime this fall.

Town and Country will hold its 25th year celebration on August 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free food, drinks, a live band and free gifts.
