The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce two local businesses have combined their passions for kitchens and food to host the January 2017 Business After Hours on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Melinda Dunford, Montgomery County Chamber Board Chair said “Ferguson Enterprises and Ewing Building & Remodeling have joined forces to focus their efforts on helping members of the chamber identify the resources readily available within the community for kitchen renovations (and other projects). It is heartwarming to see our members working to help others.  Our business community is known for its generosity and Ferguson, and Ewing have kicked off 2017 with generosity and kindness. This effort certainly reflects our 2017 theme of ALL IN 2 our community.”

This Business After Hours will feature a soup competition where attendees can vote on the best soup provided by local restaurants and caterers. Members and guests are asked to bring at least one canned food item. Bonnie Lyons, Ferguson Showroom Manager, said that “this time of year we are bundled up and trying to stay warm. It made sense to us at Ferguson Enterprises and our friends at Ewing Companies to find ways to help those who are less fortunate by asking our fellow chamber members to support a local food bank. The canned foods will be delivered to the Interfaith Food Pantry by Ferguson Enterprises and Ewing following the Business After Hours”.

Business After Hours is one of the largest monthly business networking programs offered by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. With average attendance around 150 people for the purpose of seeking ways to support local business owners and community.

Dunford shared “this national trend of online shopping can impact our local business community, it will take an intentional effort to buy from our local businesses and continue to create jobs which support our local economy. We know we will not change the online shopping behavior, but we can encourage and support a local buy initiative.”

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, serves Blacksburg, Christiansburg and all of Montgomery County, supports approximately 700 local businesses through educational, marketing, and networking opportunities. For more information on the Chamber of Commerce, visit the chamber website at www.montgomerycc.org, Facebook page, or call The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce at 382-3020.
