Blacksburg picks ups seven wins in dual swim meet

Blacksburg’s Leo Yang won the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 54.75 at Tuesday’s swim meet hosted by Christiansburg.

Tuesday was a busy day at the Christiansburg Aquatics Center as five different high schools squared off in the pool.

Blacksburg boys’ team picked up three wins, while the girls’ squad had five team wins.

Radford’s boys and girls teams also tallied two wins in the pool. Christiansburg had a win on both the girls and boys side of the water.

Blacksburg downed Radford in boys’ competition 70 to 24, 83 to 17 over Christiansburg, and 83 to three over Pulaski County High School.

The Lady Bruins doubled up Christiansburg 62-13, beat Hidden Valley 57 to 44, 87 to five against Pulaski, 74 to 27 over Radford, 62 to 39 over Salem.

The Christiansburg girls’ team downed Pulaski 47 to 25, and the boys’ beat the Cougars 68 to six.

The Radford boys beat Christiansburg 52 to 32, and Pulaski 74 to three. The girls’ picked up wins over  Christiansburg 62 to 31, and over Pulaski 78 to seven.

Christiansburg’s Lane Zuchowski works hard in the 500 yard freestyle. He placed 6th in a time of 6:15.24.
Blacksburg’s Laura Hodge gets a good start in the 500 yard freestyle. Hodge would win the event in a time of 5:17.97.
Christiansburg’s Reece Showalter placed 9th in the 100 yard backstroke for the Blue Demons.
Christiansburg’s Kaylee Greiner took home a 2nd place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.92.
