Eddie Dean Sm
ith, age 52, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017. He was born in Montgomery County on July 14, 1964.
Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Whitaker Smith, and sister, Rebecca (Rocky) Hughes. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved joking around with everyone.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Smith, son, Jarrett Smith, father Andrew (Eddie) Smith, sisters and brother in law, Tammie Hixon of Blacksburg and Anita and Glenwood Cecil of Hiwassee, nieces and nephews, Micah Hixon, Brandon Cecil, Bryan Cecil and Megan Hughes, and special companion, Christine Dowdy.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. in Blacksburg.
