Blacksburg Library Events

Blacksburg Library Storytimes:

Babies (0-12 months) – Fridays at 11 a.m.

Tots (12-24 months) – Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Toddlers (2-3 years) – Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Preschoolers (4-5 years) – Thursdays at 10 a.m.

All ages – Saturdays at 11 a.m.

Stay and Play, a Library Playgroup

Every Wednesday after Storytime, 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the Blacksburg Library

Under their parent’s supervision, babies and toddlers can play during this informal gathering. This program is for ages 0-4 and meets in the storytime room.

Birds by Robert Bateman: February Book Raffle

All month

Lavishly illustrated and engagingly written, this stunning book is a must-have for bird and art lovers alike. Stop by the library and fill out a raffle ticket for a chance to win.

Pippi Miller: Photography Exhibit on Display

All month

Stop by the library to see her photography exhibit: creative, simple, and basic, the only way she knows how to live her life!

SAT Word Search

All month

Boost your SAT and ACT vocabulary skills with mind boggling puzzles.

Winter Reading

All day, Feb. 4 – March 4

Sign up and read books, receive a free book when you turn in your completed reading log. For Children six and under.

The Fourth Annual Blacksburg Restaurants’ Chili Crawl

Thursday, Feb. 23, 12-2 p.m.

Celebrate National Chili day at the Blacksburg Library with some of your favorite Blacksburg Restaurants. Chili lovers will enjoy sampling a variety of chili creations. Stop in and visit each chili bar to get a taste of the flavor of each participating restaurant.

Christiansburg Library Events

Christiansburg Library Storytimes:

Tots (12-24 months) – Mondays at 10 a.m., Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Wee Play, a Library Playgroup

Every Wednesday after Storytime EXCEPT the first Wednesday of the month, 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the Christiansburg Library

Parents and caregivers are invited to socialize while supervising an informal play group for their babies and toddlers. Ages 0-4.

Anti-Valentines Coloring Pages

All month

Color anti-valentine color sheets in the teen area all month long.

Artist in Residence; Shaylee Hodges

All month

Local artist and Christiansburg Library staff member Shaylee Hodges with be display her mix media art all month.

Patron’s Recommended Reads

All month

All ages are invited to submit favorite book titles for our new display that will highlight the books our patrons like to read. Send the titles via Facebook or fill out a form inside the library.

StoryWalk

All month

Exercise your brain and body as you walk the trail while stopping to read. Begin at the library or the College Street entrance of Downtown Park.

Winter Reading

All day, Feb. 4 – March 4

Writing Workshop

Tuesday, February 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Workshop your writing pieces with your fellow writers. For Adults.

Page to Screen: An Online Book Club Wednesday, Feb. 22, 12-2 p.m.

Join our new online book club to discuss “Big Little Lies” by Liane Moriarty. Set to premiere as a mini -series in 2017, the story follows three mothers, each at a crossroads, and their potential involvement in a riot at a school trivia night that leaves one parent dead in what appears to be a tragic accident, but which evidence shows might have been premeditated. Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.

Cookie Challenge

Thursday, Feb. 23, 11-12 p.m.

In celebration of Bake For Family Fun Month, bring your favorite crazy cookies and share the recipe with fellow bakers.

Shawsville Meadowbrook Library Events

Shawsville Meadowbrook Library Storytimes:

Formal/Prom Dress Drive

Do you have a formal dress you’ll never wear again taking up space in your closet? Donate your gently worn, clean formal to Meadowbrook Public Library. Look for more information to come about our Prom Dress Extravaganza.

Creative Writing Workshop

Thursday, Feb. 23, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

Join us at the Meadowbrook Public Library to improve your writing! Bring your work for small-group feedback and editing. We’ll meet every Thursdays of the month.
