MONTGOMERY COUNTY – The New River Regional Drug Task Force (which is comprised of Blacksburg Police Department, Christiansburg Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia Tech Police Department and the Virginia State Police) have made multiple drug busts in Montgomery County over the last few weeks.
On Feb. 22, they executed a search warrant at a residence located at 832 Shooting Star Lane in Christiansburg. As a result of the search warrant, marijuana and numerous prescription medication tablets were seized from the residence. The search warrant was the result of an ongoing long-term drug investigation in the county. The suspect Paul Shrewsbury, 43, from Christiansburg was later arrested for distribution of marijuana, distribution of a Schedule (II) meth, possess with the Intent to distribute marijuana, and possess with the intent to distribute a schedule (II) narcotic.
On Feb. 24, the New River Regional Drug Task Force conducted a narcotic operation at a convenience store parking lot in the county. As a result of the narcotic operation, a large quantity of marijuana was seized from Ty Whitter, 20, of Radford. He was arrested for Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
On March 1, the New River Regional Drug Task Force conducted another narcotic operation at a convenience store parking lot in the county. As a result of the narcotic operation the following items were seized: 35 grams of cocaine, 18 ounces of marijuana, and one handgun.
Two suspects were arrested for the following charges: Kevin Petty, 26, from Roanoke was arrested for possession with the Intent to distribute Cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana, possession of a firearm with more than one pound of Marijuana, possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule (II) (Cocaine), conspire to distribute Marijuana, and conspire to distribute Cocaine.
Donnie Carter, 64, from Roanoke was also arrested and charged with conspire to distribute Cocaine and conspire to distribute marijuana.
An undisclosed amount of money was seized in all three raids.
