Pear trees bloom as westward lines of brine shone on College Street in Christiansburg. The sunny, 65-degree weather Thursday afternoon was exemplary of recent days. The historical warm-weather pattern of the last several weeks has proliferated blooms of both decorative and fruit-bearing trees. However, the forecasted weekend snowstorms prompted the Town of Christiansburg to make an early effort to avert ice-laden streets.
