Virginia Tech men’s basketball Head Coach Buzz Williams has announced the signing of P.J. Horne to a National Letter of Intent. Horne will enroll at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2017.

Horne is a 6-6, 230 lbs. forward from Tifton, Georgia. He played his high school basketball at Tift County High School. He was a teammate of Hokie Tyrie Jackson as a freshman, sophomore and junior. He played four years of varsity basketball at Tift County for Coach Eric Holland. While at Tift County, the team was 111-10 in four years, with four consecutive regional championships. He scored 1,671 career points, grabbed 811 career rebounds and had 203 career blocked shots. He averaged 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for his career. As a senior, he averaged 25.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, scoring more than 700 points.

“P.J. Horne is a great addition to our recruiting class,” Williams said. ”He fits our program well and gives us an inside-out player who knows the value of hard work and doing the right thing. He comes from a high school program that is a proven winner that annually turns out not only great players, but outstanding individuals, like Tyrie Jackson. P.J. will have an impact on our program, both on and off the court.”

He led Tift County to the Class 7A Georgia State Championship as a senior and was also a member of the 2014 championship team. He was named first-team All-State and was an all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was named to the GACA All-Star team and was the MVP of the all-star game with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

He joins Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a 6-6, 190 lbs. guard/forward from Toronto, Canada and Wabissa Bede, a 6-1, 190 lbs., guard from North Andover, Massachusetts, who signed NLIs with the Hokies in November. Alexander-Walker is ranked 25th in the ESPN 100 ranking of high school players. Bede is ranked the 66th best high school senior by Rivals.com and Horne is ranked 95th nationally by HoopScoop.com. The Hokies’ recruiting class is a consensus top 25 class, led by a No. 15 ranking by 24/7.com

“This class is a testament to the hard work put in by our staff,” Williams said. “This group will build upon the groundwork and culture that we are putting into place at Virginia Tech. These three individuals add much, not only to our program, but to the university and community.”
