Christiansburg boys, girls second at Buffalo Invitational

Pulaski County’s boy’s track team claimed Friday’s Buffalo Invitational at Floyd County High School, while Giles took the girl’s title.


Christiansburg finished second in both divisions, while Auburn was fourth in the boys division and fifth in the girls. Eastern Montgomery claimed seventh in the girls and 12th in the boys. Radford finished 10th in both the boys and girls events.

Giles finished with 100 points to Christiansburg’s 85for the girls’ title. Pulaski tallied 100 points on the boys’ side of the track with Christiansburg at 62 points.

Individually, Leah Earnest of Auburn set a new girls’ shot put record for the meet at 40-7, and Eastern Montgomery’s Destiny Sweeney equaled the meet record of 5-4 in the high jump.

Auburn’s Nolan Harris took the boys 1,600 and 3,200, and Christiansburg’s 1,600 Sprint Medley Relay team took top honors. Also, Christiansburg’s Alec Henderson claimed top honors in the discus with a throw of 127-7.
