Julia Teany Bratton, 91, of Christiansburg was called home to the Lord on Sunday, May 14, 2017. “Beby” was born May 13, 1926 in Montgomery County, where she spent her life as a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, farmer and caretaker of many.
She was a faithful member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church, and served as Officer of Elections in Montgomery County for 45 years, assisting in the administration of more than 75 elections.
Beby was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Bratton; son, Robert Allen Bratton; parents, George and Elizabeth “Peach” Teany, and four brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Alice Overfelt (Jim); grandsons and their wives, Bobby and Sherri Kenley and Mike and Kathy Kenley; and dedicated caregiver and granddaughter, Myra Kenley Johnston. She is also survived by her beloved great- grandchildren, Paige and Andrew Kenley, Chelsie Kenley and fiancée, Will McClung, Lucas Kenley, Joshua and Michaela Johnston, and great great- granddaughter, Annysyn Shae Johnston. Beby is also survived by sisters Sara “Sis” Duncan, Sally Bowles, and Mary (Bill) Peterman, and sisters-in-law Mary Frances Teany and Marge Teany. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive, including Linda Whitworth, special niece and dedicated caregiver, and beloved grand-dog, Sophie.
The family wishes to thank Amedisys Hospice, caregivers Rita, Joan, Joyce, Karen, Tammy, Crystal and Peach for their loving care.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Sunrise Burial Park in Radford with Pastor Robert Morris officiating.
There will be no formal visitation but friends are welcome to visit at the family’s home.
