Swim team accepting applications

The Blue Fins is a swim team that participates locally in the Southwest Virginia Summer League (SVSL). The team competes in five dual swim meets against other local SVSL teams, which are typically held on Thursday evenings. The season ends with a championship swim meet.

Practices are scheduled to begin on May 22, but the deadline to register isn’t until June 1.

To be eligible to join, participants must be over the age of 5 and be able to swim 25 yards continuously. Swimmers compete in the following age groups: ages 5-6; ages 7-8; ages 9-10; ages 11-12; ages 13-14; ages 15-19; ages 20-29; ages 30-39; ages 40-49; and 50 & older.

Summer league swimming is a great way to enter into the world of competitive swimming and stay fit over the summer. Because it is open to adults and children, summer league swimming is a fun, no-pressure family program.

To register, please visit the Aquatic Center. Registration is $40 for individual members/residents and $50 for individual non-members/non-residents. The family rate (for three or more family members) is $150 for members/residents and $180 for non-members/non-residents.

This does not include a $20 Southwest Virginia Summer League fee. Checks must be made separately and payable to SVSL.

For more information, contact the Christiansburg Aquatic Center at 381-7665.
