CASA of the New River Valley, a program of NRV CARES, welcomed three new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers.

Clare Fugate and Laura Hayes of Radford, and Debby Quick- Conner of Copper Hill were sworn in as officers of the 27th General District Court on Friday, May 12, 2017 by The Honorable Stephanie Shortt at the Giles County and Radford City Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts.

Each new CASA volunteer completed 40 hours of training in April 2017 joining 25 active CASA volunteers in the New River Valley. These volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children who are involved with court proceedings, helping those children find safe, permanent homes. If you are interested in becoming a CASA volunteer in the New River Valley, please call 540/381-8312 to request an information packet.

NRV CARES is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children from abuse and strengthening families through education, advocacy, and community partnerships. Proudly serving the counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski and the City of Radford, NRV CARES strives to improve the lives of the smallest and most defenseless members of our society while helping to support an environment where families can thrive.
