Alex Hylton (left), a 2017 graduate of Christiansburg High School, is this year’s recipient of the Posey Oyler Scholarship, which is presented annually by the Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame. Charlie Hammersley, the Hall of Fame’s president, presented the award to Hylton at Wednesday’s Salem Red Sox game against Buies Creek Astro at Haley Toyota Field in Salem. Also, Kyle Altizer of Auburn High School was a finalist for the Salem Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame Ray Bellamy Award, given to the outstanding high school player in the area served by the Hall of Fame.
