Virginia State Police First Sergeant J. W. Smith is investigating a fatal crash which occurred on August 26, 2017 at 11:13 p.m. on Route 460, one mile north of Roanoke Road in Montgomery County.
A 2006 Yamaha YZF R1 was traveling west on Route 460 at a high rate of speed, when the motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, striking the guardrail and ejecting the operator.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Jackson Everett Demere, 26, of Christiansburg, VA. Mr. Demere was wearing a motorcycle helmet and died at the scene.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team assisted with the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
