Blacksburg’s all-state kicker Camden Wise has announced plans to continue his career at James Madison University. He said in a tweet that he is excited to join the Dukes after graduation. The decision came after a visit to the Harrisonburg campus this past week.
Former Virginia Tech coach Bryan Stinespring is the Dukes’ offensive line and run/game coordinator.
James Madison won its opening game last week at East Carolina and in 2016 the team won the Football Championship Series national championship.
Last season, Wise was 54 of 56 on point after attempts. The two that he missed were blocked.
With the high-powered Bruin offense, Wise kicked off a record 44 times with an unbelievable average of 50.3 yards with most of his long kicks being inside the 10-yard line or deeper. He was also two of three on field goals and had one rushing touchdown to his credit on a blocked kick.
