Sections of Huckleberry Trail closed temporarily
There will be intermittent closures of the Huckleberry Trail at the Route 460 underpass, Oct. 18-31, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These intermittent closures will be up to 15 minutes in duration; however there may be times when the closure will be longer.
Flaggers will be in the area to control pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use an alternate route.
These closures are needed to allow for the setting of precast sections for the north side extensions of the Route 460 underpass.
Four Hokies honored
Seven Virginia Tech softball players have been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes, the organization announced Wednesday.
2017 graduate Vanessa Gonzalez, senior Breanna Davenport, junior Kinsey Johnson, redshirt junior Chelsea Whitcomb, sophomore Dani Hugney and sophomore Carrie Eberle each finished the 2016-17 academic year with a 3.5 GPA or higher. The NFCA saw a record 7,351 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-17 academic year.
