Pets-of-the-week

The pets-of-the-week are from the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center. Each Saturday the News Messenger features a dog and cat from the facility available for adoption. Those interested in adopting a pet, or helping the facility, can call 382-5795 or visit www.montgomerycountyva.gov/acac.

Jilly, 11 month old, is a terrific Tortie that has been named Queen Bee of the Animal Care and Adoption Center this week. She is sweet, calm, and quiet with one of the best temperaments. She is often overlooked because she spends her days napping. Once out of her kitty condo, she is lovable and cuddly. Jilly came to the center 2 months ago with her litter of kittens, which were all adopted. Jilly has since been spayed and is ready for her forever home.
Shadow, 8, a sweet-as-a-sundae Lab mix, is looking for a home where she is the only pet. She is friendly to every human she meets—especially children—but furry friends are not her cup of tea. She knows basic commands. She loves attention and affection. Shadow is spayed and vaccinated.
