Virginia Tech Board of Visitors to meet Nov. 4-6

The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting Nov. 6 at 1:15 p.m. in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.


On Nov. 4, board members will depart from West End Market at 1 p.m. to tour several classrooms, laboratories, residence halls, student meeting spaces, and agricultural facilities. During the tour, at approximately 5 p.m., the board will meet at the Cube at the Moss Arts Center for a presentation on the Campus Master Plan. The tour will continue after the presentation and will conclude at approximately 6:45 p.m.

On Nov. 5, an information session for all board members will be held in open session from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100).

The following Board of Visitors committees will meet at the Inn at Virginia Tech during the three-day meeting:

The Academic, Research, and Student Affairs Committee will meet Nov. 6 in closed session from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. in the Duck Pond Room, followed by an open session meeting beginning at 8:45 a.m., also in the Duck Pond Room.

On Nov. 5, the Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet with the Compliance, Audit, and Risk Committee in open session from 9:45 to 10 a.m. in the Solitude Room. Building and Grounds will then meet in open session from 10 to 11:30 a.m., also in Solitude Room.

The Compliance, Audit, and Risk Committee will meet in closed session on Nov. 5 from 8 to 8:15 a.m. in the Duck Pond Room and will meet in open session from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the Solitude Room.

The Finance and Resource Management Committee will meet Nov. 6 in closed session from 8 to 8:15 a.m. in the 1872 Salon. The committee will then meet in open session from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the Solitude Room. The committee will then be joined by the Buildings and Grounds Committee in open session from 11:15 to 11:30 a.m., also in the Solitude Room.

The Governance and Administration Committee will meet Nov. 6 in open session at 9 a.m. in the Smithfield Room.

During the three-day meeting, board members will consider resolutions on a new bachelor of science degree in public health, a capital project for student wellness improvements, and to approve the integration of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Board members will also receive a design review for the multimodal transit facility, and reports on campus safety and preparedness, university research, and student financial aid.
