The 2017 Growing the Future High School Talent Show Finale will be held at Christiansburg High School Auditorium Saturday at 7 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m.
The annual event is hosted by Shelor Motor Mile’s Growing the Future Community Partnership awarding over $50,000 in prize money to students and schools.
This is the sixth year of the local talent competition for high school students.
Throughout the fall, each high school enrolled in the Growing the Future community partnership has held a Shelor-sponsored talent show at their school. The top two acts from each high school has moved on and will compete to win the grand prize of $4,000, as well as a $15,000 prize for their school.
Shelor Motor Mile will provide the cash awards for the high school talent shows and the finale.
“This local talent event is an investment in our local schools and the students. It is always a fun night, and always renews the community spirit among the high schools. We are looking forward to another great event this year,” David Hagan, co-owner of Shelor Motor Mile said.
“The Growing the Future Talent Show is an amazing opportunity for the students of Floyd County High School – and all the students in the New River Valley – to share their creativity and perform for
their community,” said Rhonda Burnette, a teacher at FCHS. “Everyone at Shelor Motor Mile is amazing to work with. Shelor Motor Mile understands that by supporting our children, we are
supporting our future,” she said.
Monica, Zack, and Freddy Mac with K92’s Mornin’ Thang will MC the finale.
Admission is $5 for adults, and $2 for students. Each high school will be taking admission and all ticket sales go to the respective schools.
