Fans of the Highlanders have enjoyed watching and learning about the members of the Radford men’s basketball team on the court. What they might not know much about is the more personal side of each student-athlete. To get to know each of our men’s basketball players better, the team at RadfordAthletics.com interviewed each of them to find out a little bit about their time at Radford, how they got into basketball and more.
Next up is senior guard Christian Bradford.
Question: Who has been most influential person in your basketball career, from the day you first picked up a basketball to now?
Bradford: I can’t pin point one person, but a lot of my family members played basketball growing up and I tried to follow in their footsteps and be better.
Q: What are your personal and team goals for this season?
Bradford: My main team goal is to win the Big South and my personal goal is to be one of the assist leaders in conference.
Q: How did you choose the jersey number, 3?
Bradford: It was chosen for me in high school actually. They tried to give me the biggest jersey which was 55, but our head coach made someone else take their jersey off and give it to me. It was the number 3-jersey and it just stuck.
Q: What is one word you’d use to describe your style of play?
Bradford: Poised.
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
Bradford: I like to take a nap before games and listen to music. Taking a nap calms my nerves and helps me mellow out.
Q: What song, album, or artist do you listen to while getting ready for a game?
Bradford: J. Cole. He really speaks to me and motivates me.
Q: When you first got to Radford, what teammates or coaches took you under their wing and welcomed you into the Radford family?
Bradford: Everybody made me feel welcome and apart of the Radford family, but Justin Cousin took me under his wing which I think has a lot to do with how close we are in age.
Q: If you could have dinner with three people, past or present, who would they be?
Bradford: Kobe Bryant, 2Pac, and the third one is hard, but probably J. Cole.
Q: What professional player do you model your game after?
Bradford: Nobody specific – I try to take little things from each player I like – but probably Kyrie Irving right now, even though I’m upset he’s playing for the Celtics.
Q: Favorite NBA team?
Bradford: Los Angeles Lakers.
Q: Favorite food?
Bradford: Burgers.
Q: Favorite movie?
Bradford: Coach Carter.
Q: Favorite class at Radford?
Bradford: If basketball practice was a class it would be my favorite, but math because I’m really good with numbers.
