Glenna Richards Weddle, 94, of Radford, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. She was born on Feb. 6, 1923 in Avondale, W.Va., daughter of the late Otto and Molly Richards.
In 1943 she enlisted in the U. S. Marines where she served proudly until 1945. Glenna loved her family, her country, her church, and the U. S. Marine Corps. She continued to serve her country by becoming the Selective Service (Draft Board) Clerk and Board member in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John W. Weddle.
Glenna is survived by her sons, Michael and John W. Weddle, Jr.; and grandchildren, Jeffrey Weddle, Aaron Weddle and Catherine Weddle.
Glenna was a loving and caring daughter, mother, wife, Sunday school teacher, neighbor and patriot. She will be greatly missed by all with whom she came into contact.
The family received friends on January 9, 2018 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services were held with Rev. Gregory Harrell officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
