Albert Lafayette Surface, age 93, of Blacksburg died, Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, VA on Nov. 19, 1924 to the late, Maurey and Carrie Surface. He was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Lansdale.
He was an avid naturalist and story teller. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Surface; son, John Surface (Sherree) , daughters, Angela Abdi (Ralph Henry), Rebecca Clark (Mark); son, Timothy Surface (Crystal); grandchildren, Carrie, Lori, Sean, Arrin (Erica), Carol (Ronnie), Michelle (Lizanne), Mitchell, Sarah, Dylan, Zoe, Blake, and James; niece, Dena Elliott (Sidney); and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted today, Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Robbie Vance officiating.
Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
