Garland Caperton Harris, 85 of Radford passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the New River Valley Medical Center.


Born October 29, 1932 in Ozone, Arkansas he was the son of the late Charlie Harris & Wilma Linkous George. His sister, Patricia Myers also preceded him in death.

Garland was a graduate of the Pulaski High School, Class of 1950 and attended Wingate College, NC.

A veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War, he then retired from the City of Radford Electric Department with 27 years of service. He was an avid fisherman & hunter and pitched for the Pulaski Counts.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Martha Jane Harris of Radford; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Dale Gregory of Radford; his sons, Frank and Donna Harris of Draper, Stephen Harris of Draper, Randy and Sue Harris of Dublin, and Scott Harris of Pulaski; nine Grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, his sisters Earlene and Dale Lytle, of Mineral Ridge, OH, and Ludie and Mike Stoltz, of Phoenix, AZ.

Memorial services were held on March 9, 2018 at the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Lannie Harris and Rev. Delmar Stillwell officiating. Interment followed at the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery, Dublin.

The family received friends before the service at the Funeral Home.
