The Intellectual Disabilities Agency of the NRV and their volunteers work on a shoestring budget to support hundreds of people with intellectual disabilities, cand their caregivers to increase inclusivity in the larger community. The group is holding a fundraising event Thursday. Intellectual Disabilities Agency of the New River Valley will host its tenth Wine and Beer Tasting and Silent Auction, from 6:30 – 8:30 on Thursday, April 12 at the Blacksburg Country Club Event Center (1064 Clubhouse Rd, Blacksburg).

IDA and its community of volunteers and champions have supported people with disabilities and their families and caregivers all over the NRV since the 1980s.

Furthering IDA’s efforts, local businesses have contributed more than 100 surprising and delightful auction items to this spring’s evening, an event called “well-organized,” and “fun” by attendees.

“Businesses are wonderful and generous to IDA,” Sheila Roop, executive director of the said. “Pulaski Yankees tickets, fine jewelry from Henebry’s, custom artwork, and power equipment such as weed eaters all end up at the auction.”

“Come eat, drink, and bid on items to support a great cause!” Roop said.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.com
