April Exhibit: Shining Opus Designs

Eli Tuchler, the artist behind Shining Opus Designs, began wire wrapping in 2011 in his hometown of Blacksburg, VA. His passion for the art of wire jewelry led him to gain a deep appreciation for natural gemstones and minerals. This appreciation fuels his goal of displaying choice gemstones in the most eloquent way possible using silver and gold wire.

Just pick up an art card at the front desk, visit Miss Jessie’s Gallery, answer a few questions, then return your signed card to the front desk for a bookmark. Complete five cards, and you will get your very own artist sketchbook. Parental assistance is encouraged, particularly for the littlest Junior Artists!

We are thrilled to welcome the Textile Artists of Virginia and Penny Lane. TAVA is a local fiber art group; the members are sharing “Hot Stitches,” textile art melted with soldering irons, then embellished. Penny Lane is sharing her delicate fungi jewelry. She stabilizes the fragile fungi, then may chose permanent inks to enhance their natural beauty. The show will be up through March and April.

Fiber Art Demonstrations
Sunday, April 29, 2:30 – 4:00 PM at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library
Join Megan McKewan as she demonstrates how to create beautiful hooked tapestries. Learn what tools are needed and how to choose colors and fabrics. This will be followed by a felting demonstration by Robert & Jeanne Martin of Chestnut Ridge Farm. You’ll learn the difference between wet, needle and nuno felting and see examples of each technique. They will also demonstrate how to card wool and make roving.
