Kids Fishing Rodeo
The Izaak Walton League of America Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chapter has announced a kids fishing rodeo for Sunday, May 6 for children ages 12 and under. Registration for the event is 12-2 p.m. and is scheduled to run through 5 p.m.
A free lunch will be provided for registered children, and a BBQ plate is available for adults for $5 a plate. The rodeo will be held at the Izaak Walton League’s fishing area just off Den Hill Road. For more information, contact Kim Higgs at email@example.com.
Concord summer camps
The Concord University women’s basketball team has announced the dates for all three summer camps in 2018.
The program will host its annual high school team shootout June 16. The cost per team will be $175 and $300 for those wanting to bring a junior varsity squad. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. For those interested, please contact head coach Kenny Osborne by May 16.
On June 2, Concord will host an elite camp at the Carter Center. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the cost being $50.
At the end of June, 25-28, the women’s basketball program will hold a kids day camp for girls entering third grade up to rising eighth graders. The camp will run from 4-8 p.m. each day. Registration for this camp will be $75 before May 25 and $100 after the early deadline.

Hokie women number 21
In the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the Virginia Tech track and field men fell out of the Top 25 and the women fell two spots to No. 21, announced on Monday afternoon.
The men were No. 12 last week before falling outside the Top 25 for the first time this season, while the women were preseason No. 20 and have fluctuated from 18-21.
The Hokies are one of only three schools to be ranked on the women’s side. Miami owns the top spot coming in at No. 15 and Florida State sits one spot above Tech at No. 20.
Three on Three tournament May 5
Northstar Church is hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Saturday, May 5 at Randolph Park in Pulaski. The tournament will feature two divisions, Co-Ed ages 15-under and Co-Ed 16 and up.
Each team should have three to five players, being guaranteed three to four games.
The event is a fundraiser for Northstar’s annual mission trip. For more information, contact Dave Farris at 448-5800. Registration is $50 per team or $15 per individual.
Tech women finish 11th
The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted a three round total of 899 and finished in 11th place at the 2018 ACC Women’s Golf Championship. The three-day event was played at the par 72, 6,122-yard East Course at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Hokies shot a 300 on Saturday and improved to a 298 on Sunday. Tech shot a 301 in challenging weather conditions on Monday.
Junior Elizabeth Bose Norfolk carded a 2-over 218 and tied for 10th place individually.
