Robert (Bobby) Watkins Bugg, 92, of Pilot, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. He was born on February 13, 1926 to the late John and Laura Bugg.


He was a veteran of the 80th division Infantry in WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge with General Patton and received many awards.

He also was a member of Floyd, County VFW. After retiring from Lynchburg Foundry he enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, panning for gold and telling war stories.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents John and Laura Bugg; his sisters, Ruth DeHart and Lillian Thomas, his brother, Gene Bugg. He is survived by his brother, Bill Bugg; sisters, Francis Weaver, Philly Roop; and his loving wife of 67 years Onita “Puddin” Bugg; daughters, Janet Mathis, Susie Roop, Vicky Gillespie and husband, Phil; sons, Robert Bugg, Jr. and husband, Bradley Goad; Kenny Simpkins and wife, Sara; grandchildren, Quinton Self, II and wife, Brandy, Amanda Roop and wife, Kate, Laura Howell and husband, Frankie, Travis Bugg, Deseray Bugg and partner, Christin Jeffrey, Kenneth Simpkins, Jr.; great grandchildren, Quinton, III and Cassidy Self, Chelsey Bugg, Stephanie and Savannah Bugg, Victoria and Elizabeth Ratcliff.

Visitation was held May 4, 2018 at McCoy Funeral Home, followed by service in the chapel. A special thanks goes to Good Samaritan Hospice and a special friend, Carol Williams.
