Simpkins, Rachel Criner

Rachel Criner Simpkins, 71, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her home in Radford. Born July 6, 1946, she was a member of Snowville Baptist Church and retired from Volvo with 14 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mamie Criner; and her husband, Albert Hugh Simpkins, Sr.


Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Albert Hugh, Jr. and Becky Simpkins of Snowville; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Adrian Hall of Snowville; grandchildren and their spouses, Amber H. and Tim Reno, Cora S. and Chris Naylor, Bethany H. and Zachary Abbott, Katy S. and Tony Viers, Ethan Albert and Danielle Simpkins, and Clinton “C.J.” Hall; great grandchildren, Catherine and Hunter Reno, Ezekiel Abbott, and Gatlin Naylor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Amanda and Carl Bain, Joann Sowers, Margie and Tommy Mannon, and Carol Whitlock; brother, Dennis Criner; special friend, Kelly Bonds; beloved canine companion, Baby Lucy; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on May 6, 2018 at Snowville Baptist Church with Rev. Neil Wood and Rev. Brent Strouf officiating. Interment followed in the Showalter Cemetery in Indian Valley.

The family received friends on Saturday evening at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Snowville Baptist Church, 5296 Lead Mine Road, Hiwassee, VA 24347.

The Simpkins family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
