Robert “Bob” W. Leighton, 87, passed away at his home in Radford surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 10, 1931, he was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Radford for over 70 years. Bob taught at Auburn High School, and then worked at the Radford Arsenal until retirement. Following retirement, Bob worked his dream job at Draper Valley Golf Club.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of over 62 years, Betty Brown Leighton, and brothers, Wilbur and Howard Leighton, along with his parents, John and Bertie Leighton.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Ann Leighton, Donald and Kathy Leighton, Timmy and Karen Leighton, and Tommy Leighton; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Thompson; sisters-in-law, Dot Hyler, Marie Brown, Lena Leighton, Joyce Leighton; brother-in-law, Eddie Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Charles Judy and the professional and caring nurses and aides from Advanced Health Care and Intrepid Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. today on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Worles officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family asks donations be made to Intrepid Hospice, Advanced Health Care, Calvary Baptist Church Youth Program, Radford High School Athletics Booster Club or Our Daily Bread.

We will miss his guidance, dry sense of humor and the example of how he lived.

The Leighton family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
