Davis, Minanik take wins at Pete Dye

The Blue Ridge Junior descended upon the beautiful Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech on June 18 and enjoyed an exceptional experience. Ranked number 8 in the “Best Campus Courses” by Golfweek magazine, the links style design features 2.5 miles of the scenic New River.


16-18 Age Group Par 72 6495 yards

River Course member B Davis of Radford used his local knowledge and stellar play to fire a 72 and win the age group by four shots. Davis, a rising senior at Radford High School, made four birdies on the front nine holes in route to his even par score. Noah Clark of Pearisburg shot 76 to finish second. Fincastle on the Mountain winner Patrick Smith of Beckley was third with a score of 77.

14-15 Age Group Par 72 5903 yards

Seth Walker of Christiansburg made 11 pars and one birdie on his way to a steady round of 77. That was good enough to win the age division by three shots over Daniel Goode of Wytheville. Grant Rosenbaum also of Wytheville was third with a score of 81.

12-13 Age Group Par 72 Par 72 5903 yards

Graham Minarik of Radford shot 90 to win the age group for the second consecutive tournament. Samantha Skinner of Blacksburg was second only one shot back at 91. Kenzie Weddle of Floyd was third with a score of 96.

10-12 Age Group Par 36 2589 yards

Jake Albert of Christiansburg made a birdie on the second play-off hole to win the age group over Jack Skinner of Blacksburg. Both players had shot 44 to tie for first place. David Goode of Wytheville shot 45 to finish in third.

9 and Under Age Group Par 36 1935 yards

Campbell Sayers of Marion played in his first Blue Ridge Junior Golf Tour event and captured first place with a score of 50. Hudson Hurt of Radford was second with a score of 54 while his brother Nolan was third with a score of 60. Blaine Morgan of Bluefield was fourth with a score of 63.

The Blue Ridge Tour continues next week with a stop at the Wytheville Golf Club on Monday June 25.
