Babe Ruth Virginia announced Friday Christiansburg would serve as the host team for the 2018 10U and 12U girls’ softball Area 4 District Tournament. Games will start Thursday, June 28 and end Sunday, July 1 at the Harkrader Sports Complex.

The 12 and under age group will kick things off on Thursday at 5 p.m. with the Blacksburg all-stars playing Pulaski County. The winner of the contest will then face Montgomery County at 7 p.m. on the same day.

The 12U title tilt is scheduled for Friday, July 29.

The 10 and under age group is scheduled to start on Friday with Giles County and Blacksburg kicking things off at 1 p.m. Montgomery County will square off with Pulaski at 3 p.m., and Christiansburg will play the winner of the Giles/Blacksburg contest at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The championship game is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. Both age groups are a double-elimination tournament.

The New River Valley District includes the town of Christiansburg and Blacksburg, and the counties of Pulaski, Montgomery and Giles. This is the first season the group has played under the Babe Ruth umbrella.

The winner and runner up of the district competition will represent the district in the state tournament in two weeks with a chance on the line to participate in the national championship tournament.

Daily admission for the public is $5, payable at the gate. Children six and under are free.
