CAC to close for meet
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center will be hosting the Summer Awards Long Course meet July 13-15. The competition pool will close at 9 p.m. on July 12 and will reopen at 7 a.m. on July 16.
The leisure and therapy pools will close at 9 p.m. on July 12 and will reopen at 5:30 a.m. on July 16. The cardio room will follow its normal hours during this time .
Reynolds no longer with team
Head coach Justin Fuente announced Monday that senior DB Mook Reynolds has been dismissed from the team effective immediately in accordance with Virginia Tech Athletics Department policies.
Reynolds had previously been suspended from all team and football-related activities during the spring semester. University officials say there will be no further comment on the matter.
Student tickets sold out
Thanks to the tremendous support from the student body, Virginia Tech football student season tickets have sold out for the 10th-consecutive season. This year marks the earliest that student season tickets have sold out since 2013.
The next available ticket option for students who did not purchase season tickets will be the single-game ticket lottery.
Lottery dates will be released in August and will be posted to the student-ticketing page on HokieSports.com. Students looking for ticket updates and reminders are encouraged to sign up for student text alerts by texting “HOKIES” to 71855.
Season tickets for the general public are currently on sale and will be available with locations beginning Monday, July 9. The first ever meeting in Lane Stadium between the Hokies and Notre Dame on Oct. 6 and a clash with defending Coastal Division champions Miami on Nov. 17 highlight the home slate.
Jackson, Walker at ACC Kickoff
The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Friday that Virginia Tech football student-athletes QB Josh Jackson and DL Ricky Walker will join head Coach Justin Fuente at the 2018 ACC Football Kickoff on July 18 at the Westin Charlotte located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jackson (6’1, 220), who recently participated as a counselor in the 2018 Manning Passing Academy, is coming off of a record-setting rookie campaign for the Hokies.
He set two Virginia Tech freshmen passing marks with 2,991 yards and 20 touchdowns. Jackson’s passing yardage and 236 completions led all Power Five freshmen quarterbacks in 2017
Walker (6’2, 300) enjoyed a career year for the Hokies in 2017 as he racked up 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in 13 starts at defensive tackle.
An All-ACC Honorable Mention selection, his tackles for loss total ranked 15th in the conference and he scored his first career touchdown on a fumble recovery vs. North Carolina (Oct. 21).
