Blacksburg’s 38th annual Steppin’ Out festival takes place on Aug. 3-4.

For two days, the streets of downtown Blacksburg will feature over 200 vendors of arts and crafts, and three stages with over 30 bands and community performances.

Local and touring musicians will perform beginning Friday afternoon until 11p.m. The music resumes on Saturday morning, kicked off by the Blacksburg Community Band, and goes until 10 p.m.

Rock the Blocks, LLC. has curated the line-up for the third year in a row. This year’s dynamic line-up boasts folk, blues, jazz, pop, soul, rock, and bluegrass. Yvo “[The festival is an] amazing production that puts the spotlight on local businesses and musicians. The family-friendly atmosphere and welcoming Blacksburg spirit create a unique and fun experience for performers and audience alike,” Yvonne Yee, Founder of Rock the Blocks, said.

Sol Roots will take the stage on Friday night, with his signature blend “New Orleans funk, raw blues, energetic rock, deep grooves, and southern soul,” the Downtown Blacksburg release said.

On Saturday night, on-the-rise pop trio SHAED will take the stage, spearheaded by Chelsea Lee’s powerful vocals. Community acts this year include Dance.tech, Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers, Pil Seung Martial Arts and many more.

Admission to the festival is free, and Town of Blacksburg metered parking is also free during the event.

Steppin’ Out is sponsored by Moss Arts Center, National Bank of Blacksburg, Slate Creek Builders, Nest Realty, WFXR and Virginia First.
