The Artful Lawyer Gallery (318 N Main St. Blacksburg) will host the opening of “Social Commentary,” tonight from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in its Whet your Palette series.
The exhibit presents the works of a dozen local artists, several in their debut, exploring gender equality, the Mountain Valley Pipeline, cancer awareness, war, poverty, cultural identity, social media, environmental awareness and the effects of loneliness in culture.
Music by Mark Edward Jones enlivens the event.
“Our ‘Whet Your Palette’ opening for the Social Commentary show will tackle these issues and more through art sparking discussion about the world around us,” the Artful Lawyer said in a release.
The exhibit runs through Oct. 11.
