Local author Rosaire Bushey will be at Blacksburg Public Library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 9. to talk about his book, Magic’s Genesis: The Grey, and to discuss the process of independent publishing – where writing is only half the work.
The talk will be presented as a conversation where attendees are encouraged to ask questions about anything from the story, character building, and writing, to artwork, publication, and marketing. As a debut author, Rosaire’s experiences will be an excellent starting point for those who are considering self/independent publishing and hoping to hear first-hand about the experience.
Magic’s Genesis: The Grey deviates from traditional fantasy in that it takes place at the point at which magic itself first enters the world. Those chosen to wield this power have to discover through trial and error how magic works, its limitations, and the consequences of its use.
An open-ended series, Rosaire plans to write at least three books about the land of Eigrae as it transitions to a fully magical world. He is currently writing the second volume of the series.
Bushey is an award-winning military journalist and retired Air Force Public Affairs Officer. Originally from Vermont, he has lived in Sicily, England, the Portuguese Azores, Alaska and several other states and currently resides in Blacksburg with his wife, two children, and four cats.
Magic’s Genesis: The Grey is available at the Blacksburg Library for checkout and the author will have a limited number of copies on hand at the talk for sale and signing. His book can also be found on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle versions Follow Magic’s Genesis on Facebook @magicsgenesis and Rosaire’s blog Writing Fantasy at www.rosairebushey.com
