CHS boys finish second in 3D competition

The Radford High School boys cross country team took four spots in the top 21 to claim Wednesday’s Group 2A Region C title.


The girls’ team finished third, behind Glenvar and Floyd.

The Radford boys’ scored 54 points to outdistance second place James River and third place Glenvar.

William Hartig led the Bobcat contingent with a second place finish on the 5,000 meter course in Daleville. Ben Ramsey was sixth and Landon Roop 11th, Jacob Porter 17th and Nick Cooney 21st.

Abby Barnes crossed the finish line in sixth for the Radford girls with Alice Lin in 14th and Sophie Graham in 23rd.

Meanwhile the Christiansburg boys team finished as runner ups in the Group 3A Region D championships at the Jackson River Sports Complex in Covington.

Nate Leichner was fourth and Cooper Neeble was fifth. Ethan Wilson and Trey Wilson were seventh and eighth. Davis Farmer raced to a 15th place finish and Mason Conner was 20th.

The Blue Demons finished four points behind first place Cave Spring. Hidden Valley was third.

On the girls’ side, Christiansburg was fifth as Maddie Yancey took a 12th and Allison Sarver was 26th.

Allison Sarver was 26th and Kara Wright 31st.
