Mary Ann Dean departed this life to go to her Heavenly home on Dec. 29, 2018. She was born in Blacksburg, VA to the late Charles Collins and Georgia Trussell on Jan. 1, 1938. She was married to the late Leslie Howard Dean and from this union had two children Rev. Leslie Dean and Marilyn Grant.


She was educated at the Christiansburg Institute and retired from Kollmorgen after over 30 years of service. She was a member of Radford Worship Center and Zion Hill Baptist Church. She volunteered with several organizations including the Relay for Life. She was born again in her early years and served GOD tirelessly until the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Georgia Collins; her husband, Leslie Howard Dean; her daughter, Marilyn Grant; her brothers, Roy and Thomas Collins; and sisters, Shirley and Lillian Collins, Jane Elizabeth Alexander and Berty Price.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Rev. Leslie (Helen) Dean; sisters, Margaret (Claud) Shabazz, Edith Collins and Georgia (Bonner) Collins; brothers, Charles (Maxine) Collins and William Collins; grandchildren, Darryl (Melissa) Burnette of NY, Deatria (Brian) Lee of Christiansburg, Dawnetta Burnette of Roanoke, Dora (Ed) Green of Dublin, Darrell (Mariam) Dean of Christiansburg, and Felicia (Sherrick) Dean of Roanoke; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing services were held on Jan. 4, 2019 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 910 E. Rock Road, Radford, VA 24141.

The Dean family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
