On Point Motorsports officials announce that they have partnered with Christiansburg native Derrick Lancaster for the season opening ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Daytona International Speedway.

Lancaster will pilot the team’s No. 29 Toyota in their debut in the ARCA Racing Series and will kick off the partnership next week in preseason testing at the “World Center of Racing”.

“One of our goals when we started On Point Motorsports was to develop an ARCA program and we are excited to kick it off with the season opener in Daytona,” Steven Lane, NASCAR veteran crew chief and manager of On Point Motorsports said. “Derrick has good experience at Daytona and I am sure he will do a good job for us. We have built a new Toyota and the test next week will be important for us to make sure everything is good for the race.”

On Point Motorsports is a new motorsports organization that has been founded on the principle of providing an extensive racing program at many levels.

The organization will also explore efforts in other levels of racing such as modifieds, late models, ARCA and eventually the Xfinity Series.

On Point Motorsports will be making their start as a new ARCA Racing Series organization. The team will begin by fielding the No. 30 Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series.

The team led by Lane, has made four NCWTS starts so far in 2018, with drivers Scott Lagasse, Jr., Jeb Burton, and 2017 ARCA Racing Series champion Austin Theriault. Theriault scored the team’s first top-ten finish when he crossed the stripe eighth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Lane has considerable experience in the sport, serving as crew chief for drivers Kyle Petty, Jeremy Mayfield, and David Stremme, among others.

“I am excited for the opportunity to race with On Point Motorsports,” Lancaster said. “I have known Bones (Steven Lane) for a number of years and we have actually worked together in the past so that will be helpful. I know they have built a new and strong car and look forward to getting down there next week and turning some laps. I believe that if we do all of the right things then we can be someone to keep an eye on for the race.”

Lancaster will be making his fifth career start in the ARCA Racing Series and his fourth at Daytona International Speedway. He has a career best finish of sixth, which occurred at Talladega and a best finish of thirteenth at Daytona.

This year’s event will be held on Friday and Saturday.
