Nancy Phillips Mitchell, 86, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 5, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on Dec. 20, 1932, she was retired from Radford City Schools where she was a secretary at the administrative offices. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Stella Phillips; brother, James Maynard (Fiddle Man) Phillips; and sisters, Gretchen (Pauline) Phillips, and Kate P. Harris; and nephew, Roger Harris.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Katherine (Harris) and Larry Zehner of Christiansburg, Brenda and Douglas Higgs of Christiansburg, and Philip and Debbie Harris of Locust Grove; several great, great nieces and nephews, one of those being a great great nephew, Weston Allen; and many cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care unit at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for all their loving care and a special thanks to her cousin, Ann M. Rowell for all of her kindness and caring that she gave to Nancy.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 7, 2019 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. T. Michael Bond officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Sand Cemetery in Indian Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research.
