The Blacksburg Community Band, under the direction of David McKee, has scheduled three summer concerts.
- July 4: For the 4th of July, the band provides patriotic music to get the community in the spirit of the day at Blacksburg’s Municipal Park starting at 6:00 pm. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy this fun, festive, and free outdoor concert.
- July 10: On the patio at Warm Hearth’s Karr Activity Center (2603 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg, VA) from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. If inclement weather occurs, the concert will be moved down the street to The Village Center.
- July 13: The Blacksburg Community Band will be providing a variety of musical selections at the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club Fish Fry from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Come out and enjoy some great food and music!
Formed in 1989, the band was created as a way for individuals of all skill levels to continue or re-foster their interest in music.
The band is an all-volunteer organization currently comprised of 70 community members who range in age from teenagers to senior adults.
The band sponsors a scholarship for young musicians, plays at Steppin’ Out, high schools, parks and senior centers reaching over 7,000 people in the New River Valley.
Blacksburg Community Band concerts are free and audiences of all ages are invited to attend.
