The offices of Pulaski on Main (83 West Main Street) in Pulaski, an affiliate of the Virginia Main Street program that works to revitalize Virginia’s historic commercial districts, will now be open from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday to provide information to visitors and enliven downtown Pulaski all week.
“Along with our expanded hours, we’ll be increasing promotions for weekend happenings to encourage attendance. We have some social media savvy team members and business partners. The buzz is growing. We also hope this activity will motivate other downtown businesses, especially in the retail and entertainment sectors, to keep their doors open on Saturday and into the evenings,” Catherine Van Noy said in an announcement of the new hours.
Previously open Monday through Friday, Pulaski on Main’s new hours extend beyond the work week to support Town of Pulaski events, such as the Music and Merchants Festival that took place in May this year she said.
“In Pulaski, tourism around the arts and culture as well as outdoor recreation undoubtedly holds significant potential. Many of our downtown partners cater to visitors and residents seeking unique experiences. So, it stands to reason that we’re focusing on ways to lift our tourism-related businesses and assets. One way is to encourage downtown life during the weekends, especially in the summer. We have one new destination business coming on line this fall and several more in planning. Saturday hours clearly made sense to us.”
The Saturday hours are designed to help promote downtown businesses and weekend activity and encourage tourism, an important growing business opportunity for all of Southwest Virginia.
“Pulaski is well positioned to bring more tourists into our historic downtown,” says Catherine Van Noy, Pulaski on Main’s Interim Director. “Our new hours will increase tourism opportunities for Pulaski and allow Pulaski on Main to better serve our downtown merchants.”
The new hours reflect growing interest in Pulaski’s downtown from customers and business owners.
Construction is currently underway for two new businesses: Crescent City Café, a new New Orleans style restaurant, and a virtual reality center called Next Level.
The café and VR center are projected to open in late 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Since its establishment in 2016, Pulaski on Main has worked to provide support to downtown businesses and enliven activity downtown.
“We’ve been developing strategies to help our town and downtown partners accelerate recovery on our Main Street,” Van Noy said. “A well-established approach in economic revitalization is to identify various sectors showing promise and build on those successes.”
