Area veterans were recently treated to smiling faces bearing the gift of flowers when four RSVP volunteers delivered 89 flower arrangements to veterans throughout Montgomery County and Radford, especially those who are residing in local nursing and assisted living homes.

Erlene Barber of Gates Florist provided a demonstration on Thursday, Nov. 7 to eight RSVP volunteers that designed the beautiful arrangements. RSVP Coordinator Mandy Hates had words of thanks and appreciation for the RSVP volunteers. Making the arrangements available were Irene Dowdy, Betty Burress, Shirley Mullins, Sharon Brown, Rosemary Jones, Annette Calhoun, Gail Patterson and Chris Fulmer. Virginia Flanary made the Veterans Day cards. Delivering the arrangements were Raymond Lyons, Chris Fulmer, Ronald “Chub” Flanary and Steve Sottosanti.

Gates Florist partnered with RSVP to make the project possible.
